The article examines the personal fonds of Mongush Bayan-oolovich Artas (1913–1999), Minister of Internal Affairs of the Tuvan ASSR (1962), deputy of the Supreme Council of the Tuvan ASSR. It is stored in the National Archives of the Republic of Tuva (NA RT, f. 357, inventory list 1). The fonds was created in 1999 and supplemented with documents of the Artas family in 2001.
The documents in the fonds can be divided into the following groups: autobiographies, personal files and questionnaires; memoirs of a participant of the first convoy with gifts for the Red Army; recollections of repressions in Tuva; photographs; reports, lectures, notes; notebooks, telephone directories; letters, postcards, certificates of achievement, identification documents, membership cards; newspaper clippings. These documents allow us to trace his entire life’s path.
A certain amount of the considered fonds is represented by documents related to the topic of political repression in Tuva. In particular, these are articles by M. B. Artas published in the republic’s press, his reports, appeals to higher officials and bodies. A number of documents are memoirs, lectures and speeches about the delivery of the first convoy with gifts for the Red Army in 1942. Therefore, the documents in the personal fonds of M. B. Artas are of interest not only for his direct descendants and for researchers of his personal biography, but also for scholars studying the history of Tuva in general.
