Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the development of physical culture and sports from the establishment of the Tuvan People’s Republic in 1921 to the adoption of the new state program of the Republic of Tuva for the development of physical culture and sports in 2021. The study examines the key stages in the formation and evolution of sports infrastructure, mass sports, and professional achievements. Research sources: legislative and office documents, official statistics, eyewitness accounts in journalism.

The development of physical culture and sports in Tuva is considered as a historical process reflecting the cultural, social, and political transformations of the region. Beginning with the first steps toward organizing the physical culture movement among the population of Tuva, the authors reveal the impact of Soviet sports traditions in combination with national sports. Attention is paid to the role of the state in supporting physical activity and creating conditions for participation in sports.

The article addresses the problems of the current stage of sports development in the region, including issues of funding, human resources, and interaction with federal authorities. The authors emphasize the need for a comprehensive approach to the development of physical culture that combines traditional forms of popular activity with modern training methods and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
