Linguoculturological commentary is one of the significant sections of a paremiological dictionary and it is especially relevant when describing Tuvan proverbs in polylingual paremiography, since it allows us to objectively represent their national and cultural features in a foreign language context.
The aim of the research is to determine the principles of linguoculturological commentary in multilingual paremiography and to develop techniques for its use in the Tuvan-Russian-English dictionary of proverbs. The research materials were acquired from collections of Tuvan proverbs and sayings, as well as from the most authoritative dictionaries of proverbs (in Russian, English and other languages) that comprise linguistic and cultural commentaries.
As a result of the research, a methodology for the application of linguoculturological commentaries on proverbs in a paremiological dictionary has been developed. The author has determined the character and varieties of the linguoculturological commentary in the Tuvan-Russian-English paremiological dictionary as well as the composition and structure of a lexicographic description of national features of Tuvan proverbs in the contexts of Russian and English linguistic cultures. Some features of the linguoculturological interpretation of proverbs common to Tuvan, Russian and English have been found out.
