This is a review of the international research conference "Regional economy: technologies, economy, ecology and infrastructure" which was held at Tuva Institute for Complex Development of Natural Resources, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Kyzyl, Russia) on October 14-15.
The conference marked the 20th anniversary of the Institute and aimed to analyze and discuss the economic situation in the Republic of Tuva, other regions of Siberia and adjacent territories. Analyzing and debating economic, technological, environmental and infrastructural development issues of Tuva and neighboring regions led to suggestions of how to provide dynamic and sustainable development of a region in contemporary Russia.
The papers presented at the conference covered four main aspects: ‘Building a long-term social and economic strategy for the region’; ‘Geology and mineral resource potential of Tuva and adjacent regions’; ‘Mathematical modeling and geoinformational mapping of natural and anthropogenic processes’; and ‘Rational use of natural resources and environmental protection’. 98 participants from 19 research institutions, local and municipal power agencies from Russia and a number of other states presented 76 papers at the conference.
